The State of Iowa has taken a turn, at the harm to its citizens-just not the straight, white, Republican population. We need a Governor who believes in the rights of women to make their own health care decisions, of minorities to have a voices, to allow all individuals to exercise their rights as citizens, regardless of sex, race, religion, sexuality, etc. I worked for the State for 46 years. That last several years were very hard.
Just back from the experiment called Portland, OR, and Des Moines and Iowa look pretty good! Time will tell which of these experiments, enabled by our federalist system of siloed evolution, will endure. Likely both will require some cutting, grinding and polishing and the young and naive optimist in me is confident this will occur.

One of your best ones yet! Great Read! Made me smile. Great way to start my new work week!
Fun to read, and to the point!
Enjoyable and sensible, as always.

Who DOESN'T crush on Rob?
I love that when he calls me to ask for money, he calls me "Mrs. Paschen." Old School.
Thank you for this.
Thanks for the conversation and the smiles, Fern and Joe. I agree that we need a new state slogan. I like the one on the t-shirt
IOWA Flee to Flourish
It would certainly be a proper warning.
The state motto may have been adopted in 1847, but Iowa officially became a state in 1846.
I enjoy your comments.
What about ”Quality & Productivity”? I don’t remember if that was an actual slogan or a suggested one.
From what I've read, Iowa is not the state I lived in for 11 years. I hear you voice, Fern, when I read your words. Joe's voice, I don't know.
